Peter P. Fenton has represented management in labor relations matters for over 26 years. Pete’s extensive experience includes representing unionized employers in labor negotiations and union organizing campaigns as well as advising them on interpreting and applying collective bargaining agreements. Pete appears on behalf of his clients in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board. He also represents unionized employers at arbitration in matters involving contract interpretation and employee discipline or discharge. In addition, Pete advises non-union clients on developing the best practices for maintaining a union free workplace.
Pete received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Providence College in 1974, a certificate in Executive Development from Indiana University in 1976 and his Juris Doctorate from Western New England College School of Law in 1980. For over 20 years, Pete represented the City of Springfield in its labor relations matters, first as a Labor Relations Attorney where he negotiated numerous collective bargaining agreements and then as City Solicitor where he negotiated and oversaw the labor contracts for all of the city’s departments.
Pete is a frequent speaker for a wide variety of associations and organizations on topics such as the Employee Free Choice Act, maintaining a union free workplace and proactive managing in a unionized environment. For several years, Pete was a varsity hockey coach at Cathedral High School and has taught a variety of legal courses at area colleges. Pete is admitted to practice in both the state and federal courts in Massachusetts.
